I got frustrated and kicked my PlayStation 5 while it was sitting on the floor. Now the fan no longer spins, the metal cover around it is bent, and the console turns itself off after running for a few minutes. It powers on normally, shows my games, and lets me launch them, but then beeps and shuts down without going through the usual power-off screen. One of the plastic clips holding the detachable disc-drive section in place also broke, leaving that part loose. Is there anything I can safely repair myself, or should I take it to a professional?

The symptoms suggest the console is overheating or detecting a cooling failure rather than shutting down normally. Do not keep testing it for long periods. Check for a loose fan cable only if you have the correct tools and know how to work around delicate connectors; otherwise, have the fan, internal mounting points, and disc-drive clips inspected professionally.
There may be several separate problems from the impact. The broken plastic clip might only leave the disc-drive cover loose, but the fan and sudden shutdown are more urgent. If you are not comfortable opening electronics, a repair shop is the safer option. Continuing to power it on without a working fan could turn a repairable problem into a much more expensive one.
The shutdown is probably related to the fan. It may have come unplugged when the console was hit, or the impact could have damaged the fan or its bearings. Since the PS5 relies on that fan for cooling, avoid running it repeatedly—overheating could cause more damage. You can remove the outer panels and check whether the fan connector is firmly seated, but if the fan itself is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
