I have a Western Digital external hard drive and I'm trying to figure out which replacement cable to buy. The connector looks similar to Micro-USB, but I'm not sure whether it needs a standard Micro-USB cable or a different type. The drive is shown in the attached image.

A five-pin Micro-USB connection is needed for data transfer, but for this drive the wider USB 3.0 Micro-B cable is the more likely match. Check the shape of the port carefully before ordering.
It looks like a USB 3.0 Micro-B cable, sometimes called the wider Micro-B connector. That’s commonly used on Western Digital portable external drives. The other end is usually USB-A for connecting to a computer.
Make sure you don’t accidentally buy a regular, narrow Micro-USB 2.0 cable. The USB 3.0 Micro-B plug has an extra wide section and is needed for the drive’s data connection. A short cable is generally best for reliable power.
