I'm new to PC gaming and have a standard RTX 4060. My friends say it's a good graphics card, but my games run best at 1080p. I'd like them to look as close to 4K as possible without spending a lot more money. What settings, hardware, or upgrades would give me the best visual quality?

Keep in mind that your monitor determines the actual display resolution. An RTX 4060 is a solid 1080p card, and it can handle some 1440p gaming if you reduce graphics settings or accept a lower frame rate. Native 4K gaming is beyond what this card is designed for in most modern games.
You could connect the PC to a 4K monitor or TV and use DLSS or another upscaling option. The game would render internally at a much lower resolution, possibly around 1080p, then upscale the image to 4K. This can look sharper than plain 1080p, but you’ll still need to lower settings and the result won’t match native 4K. Upscaling can also introduce blur or visual artifacts, especially in performance modes.
For older games or less demanding titles, try higher settings with DLSS set to Quality or Balanced. Newer, graphically intensive games will require bigger compromises at 1440p or 4K, so upgrading the monitor alone won’t make the 4060 render true 4K smoothly.
