Mouse Cursor Disappears Inside Citrix Workspace and Other WebView2 Apps

Several staff members recently reported that the mouse pointer becomes invisible when moved over the Citrix Workspace window. The pointer still works—the user can click, launch applications, and see icons highlight on hover—but it is only visible again after moving outside the Workspace window. A similar issue has appeared in CCH Axcess and reports suggest other WebView2-based applications may be affected as well. Has anyone encountered this recently, and what fixed it?

Do you know which WebView2 runtime version the affected computers are using? The timing and the fact that several WebView2-based applications are involved make the runtime version worth checking.

I had this happen in Citrix for quite a while. The fix was unexpectedly simple: I changed the mouse pointer scheme in the remote desktop to Windows Black. The cursor immediately became visible again, although I’m not sure why that setting resolves it.

We saw something similar where the cursor disappeared inside Citrix and the screen flickered. It only affected users with a particular laptop model. Disabling Multiplane Overlay through the registry and restarting the computer fixed it for us.

Our issue seems limited to the local Workspace client rather than applications launched through Citrix, but I’ll keep the Multiplane Overlay setting in mind if we see the flickering behavior too.

CCH Axcess has a support-documented fix that involves changing the mouse pointer settings. It solved the invisible cursor problem for several of our users, so it’s worth trying even if the underlying cause is related to WebView2.
