I'm completely new to building PCs, so I may need some basic guidance. My computer was recently assembled with a clean installation of Windows 11 Pro, and the necessary drivers were supposedly installed. Bluetooth appears in Windows, but when I try to add a device, it doesn't detect anything.
The PC is connected to the internet with an Ethernet cable. I also checked for Bluetooth driver updates through Windows, but it says everything is up to date. Could the problem be related to the motherboard drivers, missing antennas, or something else with the hardware?

First, check whether the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi antennas are connected to the motherboard’s antenna ports. Many desktop motherboards use the same wireless module for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and Bluetooth can work poorly or fail to detect devices if the antennas aren’t attached. Using Ethernet for internet access doesn’t eliminate the need for those antennas.
It’s also worth checking whether the wireless module is actually enabled and compatible with the motherboard’s slot configuration. On some systems, using certain SATA ports or another M.2 device can disable a shared wireless slot. Check the motherboard manual and Device Manager for any Bluetooth or unknown-device warnings.
Windows Update doesn’t always install the correct Bluetooth driver. Go to the motherboard manufacturer’s support page, find your exact model, and download the Windows 11 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi drivers manually. Reinstalling the Bluetooth driver may also give you a repair option if it’s already installed.
If the hardware and drivers look correct, completely shut down the PC, unplug it, and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to discharge it. Plug it back in and start it again. That can reset Bluetooth hardware that has become stuck, though reinstalling the proper motherboard drivers is still the main thing to try.
I’m fairly sure the builder downloaded drivers from the motherboard website, but I’ll verify that. I didn’t realize the Wi-Fi antennas could affect Bluetooth, so I’ll check whether they’re attached.
