Which is Better for Buying a Domain: Cloudflare or Porkbun?

Hey everyone! I'm a complete newbie looking to purchase a domain and I've come across a couple of options that seem affordable. There's a .uk domain available for $5/year on Cloudflare and $6/year on Porkbun. Although I'm not from the UK, the pricing looks tempting! I've read some positive reviews about Porkbun on Reddit, but I noticed in Cloudflare's terms that they don't allow using other DNS services, which has me a bit confused. I'm really hoping to hear your recommendations.

I personally go with Cloudflare because they keep their renewal prices pretty stable, which is a big plus for me.

I'd advise against Porkbun since they require ID verification. I’d suggest looking at Namecheap or sticking with Cloudflare, especially if you're concerned about added hassle.

That’s definitely a drawback! I noticed that Namecheap's prices for the domain I want are almost twice as much compared to Cloudflare, so it seems like CF might be the way to go.

Yeah, I heard that Namecheap is also starting to ask for ID for new accounts, so it's getting tricky.

I like Cloudflare too! It works seamlessly with Vercel and Google Workspace, and their interface is pretty user-friendly.

I usually use Porkbun. Their prices have been very consistent for me, and their interface is simple and straightforward.

Honestly, if you’re super new to this, consider registering the domain through your hosting provider. It can save you a lot of headaches, especially as a beginner!

I get that! I’ve still got a few months before I start hosting, but I found a name on sale that I really want to grab early. As a student, the bundles are usually out of my price range, though.
