I tried installing Kubuntu alongside Windows on my Medion Erazer Deputy P60. I created a roughly 50 GB partition in Windows and selected it during the Kubuntu installation. The installation completed without reporting an error, but after restarting, neither operating system boots correctly.
Kubuntu appears to stop at a blank terminal-like screen with a white horizontal cursor. Windows shows the normal Erazer startup logo and sometimes "Preparing Automatic Repair," but never progresses. I also tried booting antiX and a Windows 11 installer made from an Android phone, but both seem to hang at a black or startup screen. In the UEFI menu, I can still browse the files on the C: drive, so the SSD appears to be detected and the data may still be intact.
I don't have access to another computer, so Android-based solutions would be especially helpful. My priority is getting the laptop working again, while preserving my files if possible. The laptop has an RTX 4060, 16 GB of DDR4 memory, and an Intel Core i7-12650H.

Don’t assume the files are gone just because the operating systems won’t start. If you can boot any working Linux or Windows recovery environment, connect an external drive and copy your personal files from the internal SSD before attempting a reinstall. A live environment can also be used to inspect the partitions and confirm whether the Windows installation is still present.
The installation may have overwritten or damaged the EFI boot partition, leaving both the Windows bootloader and GRUB confused. A properly created Windows installer USB would be the next step: boot from it, choose the repair options first, and try Startup Repair or the command-line bootloader repair tools. If repair fails, reinstall Windows to the original system partition, but avoid formatting anything until important files have been copied elsewhere.
A structured installation and troubleshooting guide can help identify exactly where the boot process fails. If the recovery environment loads, first back up the files, then check whether the machine is using UEFI mode and whether the EFI partition still exists. Recreating the Windows boot files may restore Windows without requiring a full wipe.
For now, avoid installing another operating system directly onto the internal SSD. Use a known-good bootable recovery drive to troubleshoot the disk, back up your data, and repair the EFI entries. The ISO needs to be written in a way that creates a genuinely bootable UEFI drive; simply copying or flashing it from a phone may not work with every Android utility or laptop.
