I'm comparing several 1000W power supplies and would appreciate advice on which one offers the best quality and reliability:
- DeepCool PQ1000P, 80 Plus Platinum, fully modular
- FSP Hydro G Pro 1000W, 80 Plus Gold, fully modular
- DeepCool PX1000G, 80 Plus Gold, 1000W
- MSI MPG A1000G, 80 Plus Gold, 1000W
- Segotep GM 1000W ATX 3.1, 80 Plus Gold
They cost around $200 or more. I'm considering 1000W partly to leave room for future upgrades, but I'd like to choose the safest and highest-quality option.

The FSP Hydro G Pro, DeepCool PX1000G, and MSI MPG A1000G are the safer choices from this list. The PX1000G is generally regarded as the strongest option, while the FSP and MSI models are also solid if they’re cheaper. I’d avoid the Segotep GM because that model line has a poor reputation for quality.
My pick would be whichever of the PX1000G, Hydro G Pro, or MPG A1000G has the best price and warranty. The MSI model is generally good, although some versions have been criticized for noisy or lower-quality fans. The Segotep GM would be my last choice despite supporting the newer ATX standard.
For the first four options, I’d mainly compare the prices and warranty lengths. The PQ1000P is newer and has less of a track record, but DeepCool’s recent power supplies have generally been good. A longer warranty is a useful tie-breaker because it often reflects the manufacturer’s confidence in the unit.
Do you actually need 1000W? It’s a lot for most systems, so it’s worth checking your graphics card and processor requirements first. Having extra capacity for a future upgrade is reasonable, but don’t choose a weaker unit just because it has a higher wattage rating.
The main reason I’m leaning toward 1000W is to avoid replacing the power supply if I upgrade later. The options I found are all priced above $200.
