Hey everyone! I could really use some insight into a strange situation I found myself in. A few weeks ago, I created a calendar event on my iPhone for a trip and included my husband's email to invite him. When he declined the invite, I thought he had just misclicked, but later, when we discussed it, he was adamant he hadn't declined. To figure this out, I checked and indeed saw the 'declined' status on the invite. Out of curiosity, I decided to send a message to his email via iMessage, and to my surprise, his sister answered! She told me it was confusing for her as well, and I never expected my messages to go to her. I'm puzzled about how this happened because they've never shared contacts or accounts. Is it possible that she somehow has access to his email for iMessages? Any help to unravel this mystery would be awesome!

Apple's system is tricky! They could have used the same device or SIM card at some point, which might explain the email issue. Just confirm everything is set right in the settings to avoid future weirdness!
Check how they're saved in your contacts. Sometimes old emails or numbers can linger, leading to these mishaps!
It's possible his sister might have reached out first and mixed it up in her messages. Maybe they have some old contacts linked somehow?
It could be that your husband needs to confirm his email address is correct. Have him send you an email to double-check that what he thinks is his email is indeed what he's using?
Sounds like they might be sharing an Apple ID, which could explain the mixed-up messages. If you look under Settings > Messages > iMessage > 'Send & Receive From', it shows the emails linked to that device. If there's an old email or number associated with it, it might be causing the confusion. Check that out!
Nope, they don't share an Apple ID, so that can't be it.
