I'm trying to decide which upgrade would make the biggest difference for my current PC. I can either buy an RX 9070 XT, which costs roughly $750–$900, or get a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory for around $750 from a local retailer.
My current system has an RTX 5060 Ti, 16GB of Crucial DDR5-5200 memory, a Ryzen 7 8700F, and an MSI MAG Tomahawk B850 motherboard. I play at 1440p, mainly Cyberpunk 2077 and heavily modded Minecraft, with occasional sessions of Counter-Strike 2 and Fortnite. Which upgrade would provide the more noticeable improvement?

The 7800X3D and faster 32GB memory would be a noticeable improvement in competitive shooters and could make the system feel more balanced. DDR5-5200 is also a little slow for this platform. That said, for Cyberpunk at 1440p, the graphics card upgrade should deliver the bigger visible improvement.
For your games and resolution, the RX 9070 XT is likely to make the larger overall difference. In graphically demanding games such as Cyberpunk, it could provide roughly a 50% performance increase over your current card. The 7800X3D would help more in CPU-limited titles, but the improvement would be smaller in most games. Upgrading to 32GB of RAM only matters significantly if you’re currently running out of memory.
It really depends on what is limiting performance right now. With your clarified game list, I would prioritize the RX 9070 XT because Cyberpunk at 1440p is primarily GPU-heavy. For modded Minecraft, the CPU and available memory can matter more, so monitor your RAM usage before deciding. I should have included this earlier, but I’m playing at 1440p and mostly care about Cyberpunk and modded Minecraft. I only play CS2 and Fortnite occasionally.
