I'm running Fedora natively on a new Acer Aspire AG15-71P with KDE Plasma. The touchpad suddenly stopped responding, even after trying two older kernels and pressing every Fn and function-key combination. Fedora detects the device through libinput as an I2C touchpad at /dev/input/event4, but moving or clicking on it produces no input events. The touchpad is enabled in system settings, and no external mouse is connected. I also checked the UEFI settings but couldn't find any touchpad-related option. What else can I check to determine whether this is a firmware setting, hardware problem, or Linux configuration issue?

Since the touchpad appears in libinput but generates no events, check whether it has been disabled at the firmware level. Some laptops hide this behind a keyboard shortcut or an option in the full UEFI setup, so the service manual or hardware manual may list a specific key combination that isn’t obvious from the keycap icons. It’s also worth checking the manufacturer’s support documentation for this exact model.
The setting about disabling the touchpad when a mouse is connected is probably not the cause if no mouse is plugged in, but verify it is disabled anyway. You can also test the device directly with `sudo libinput debug-events`; if nothing appears while touching or clicking, the problem is below the desktop settings layer and is more likely firmware, a physical connection, or a kernel compatibility issue than KDE configuration.
