Hey everyone, my girlfriend is starting a hotel business in the Philippines and needs two laptops. She's already there and found a pair of laptops priced at $1,000 total (that's $500 each). I'm curious if this is a good deal or not? Here's a link to the specs she was given: [specs image](https://i.ibb.co/5hf3vdRV/72ef8e61-29c2-4f3b-9730-cd6d740d9a7a.jpg)

Just so you know, this Asus Vivobook Go 14 that matches those specs was recently on sale at Best Buy in the U.S. for $279.00. I’m not familiar with the market in the Philippines, but it sounds like those prices might be inflated there compared to the U.S., even though local markets can differ widely.
Honestly, it's hard to say without knowing local prices, but that seems a bit high for those laptops. Typically, they should go for around $300 for what she needs, especially since the CPU is a bit outdated. If 14" is too small, keep in mind that 8 GB RAM is the bare minimum.
I wouldn't recommend getting Acer laptops; they tend to be low quality and break down easily. If she's looking to spend around $500 each, it might be better to check out off-lease business class laptops on eBay. You’ll usually get better performance for that price. Trust me, as an IT guy, Acer is not on my list of good choices.
I get your point. But she needs to buy from a local store with some sort of warranty. Any brands you'd suggest in that price range that would work for basic accounting and printing?
I highly suggest checking out ThinkPads. They’re solid machines. Also, if you're buying parts in the Philippines, look into PCHUB for decent options.
Wow, so they should cost around $250? She's looking to run just basic stuff, so that's good to know.
