Hey everyone! I'm thinking about installing Linux Mint on my computer, but I want to keep my Windows installation as well. I'm fairly new to this, so I'm looking for a step-by-step guide or a solid tutorial that I can follow. Are there any specific methods or tips that you'd recommend? Also, are there any common pitfalls I should watch out for during the installation? Thanks for your help!

If you're using standard hardware, everything should work without issues. Just a heads up: some users face problems with GPU drivers. It’s best to connect your monitor to your motherboard output during the installation and switch it to the GPU afterward. Also, be aware of possible sound and WiFi card issues. Enjoy the experience; using the terminal is actually pretty handy once you get the hang of it!

Installing Mint is pretty straightforward—its installer looks a lot like Windows. Just boot from the installation media and choose the graphical install option, then click through! Simple as that!

I suggest putting your Linux Mint installation on an external USB hard drive. This way, you can easily boot from whichever you prefer. I’ve been using openSUSE LEAP like this for years without any problems!

Definitely back up all your important data before diving into this! A common mistake is relying too much on video tutorials instead of doing thorough reading. Shift your focus to researching the installation process to avoid issues. And again, don't forget to back up your files!

Check out the official Linux Mint website! They have a fantastic guide on creating a bootable USB drive with the ISO file. It’ll walk you through installing Mint either as a dual boot or just on its own. Also, YouTube has loads of video tutorials that guide you through the entire process step-by-step.
