Hey everyone! I'm considering making the switch from Windows to Linux after hearing a lot about its benefits. I'm curious if this is a smart move and also want to know if I can easily switch back to Windows if I find I don't like it. Additionally, will all my files still be accessible if I switch? I've come across different versions like Arch Linux and Linux Mint, but I usually play games, code, and watch movies. What would you recommend as the best distro for those activities?

Start off by trying it on a Virtual Machine or using a Live USB. That way, you can test out different Linux distributions without affecting your current system. If you find one you like, you can always install it later. Plus, you can switch back to Windows just by removing the USB! If you're interested, try tools like Ventoy to carry multiple ISOs on one stick and explore different options.
Before you switch, definitely back up your important files like documents and photos. This is a good practice regardless of whether you make the switch or not. If you want to keep Windows too, consider creating a bootable USB drive for Windows first. Starting with something user-friendly like Linux Mint or Pop!_OS is a great way to go—Arch can be a bit much for new users!
Good call on backups! Always better to be safe than sorry.
