I opened my ASUS TUF FX608 to install a new SSD. After finishing, I tried reconnecting the battery, but the connector will not click into place on the left side. It either stays partially loose or pops back out from one side while the other seems secure. What should I check, and how can I reconnect it without damaging the motherboard or connector?

Carefully inspect the battery connector and the matching pins on the motherboard for bent, damaged, or misaligned parts. ASUS uses a sliding-style connector that needs to be pushed straight in and fully seated before it locks. Don’t force it at an angle, since the small white locking sections can be damaged easily.
Check the side of the battery plug that fits into the motherboard slot, not just the visible top. Make sure it is perfectly aligned and entering the slot evenly on both sides. If one side pops out, the plug may be slightly angled, the locking tab may be out of position, or the connector may already be bent. Compare both ends closely before applying any pressure.
I’ll inspect the side that slides into the slot as well. It seems like the left end is not engaging with the connector, so I’m avoiding forcing it.
The pins look okay, but the connector still refuses to lock onto the white section on the left even though the right side clicks into place.
