I'm planning to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X and was originally considering buying a B550M motherboard as well. However, I'll be purchasing the CPU first and currently have an ASRock A520M/ac WiFi board. Can I install and use the 5700X on my existing motherboard, or should I wait until I buy a new board? If upgrading is worthwhile, what B550M models would you recommend?

Replacing your current board just to use a 5700X likely isn’t worth the money. A520 lacks some features found on B550, such as PCIe 4.0, but that usually won’t affect normal gaming or general use. Keep the existing board unless you specifically need those extra features.
You probably don’t need a new motherboard at all. The Ryzen 7 5700X has fairly modest power requirements, so the ASRock A520M/ac should be able to run it permanently. Check the CPU support list and update the BIOS before swapping processors if necessary.
