I'm building my first PC and would appreciate a sanity check before spending around $1,750. I'm planning to buy the parts from a local computer retailer because of its bundle deals, and I'd like to use Bazzite as the operating system. The main purpose will be gaming, including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Just Cause 3, and Baldur's Gate 3. I'll also use it for browsing, light 3D modeling, and game development.
My planned parts are:
- Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Gigabyte X870 Gaming WiFi6 motherboard
- Radeon RX 9070 GRE Reaper
- 32GB G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5 memory
- Crucial P310 1TB SSD with heatsink
- Corsair RM750e 750W power supply
- Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 cooler
- NZXT H6 Flow RGB case
Does this look balanced, and are there any parts I should change for better gaming, modeling, or development performance?

For 3D rendering and some development tools, Nvidia cards can have broader software support. Rendering also benefits from more CPU cores, so a higher-core-count Intel processor could be worth considering if you find one at a similar price. Check what’s available from your retailer, since the exact model you were considering may not be stocked.
The build generally looks reasonable. The SSD probably doesn’t need a separate heatsink because the motherboard may already include one, but keeping the version with a heatsink is perfectly fine if it costs less.
That version was actually cheaper, so I’ll stick with it.
I’d compare the RX 9070 GRE carefully against the regular RX 9070 XT. The GRE is noticeably slower and has less VRAM, so the XT could be a better long-term choice if you can justify spending roughly $200 more. If that would push you over budget, the GRE is still a reasonable compromise.
I considered the XT, but the extra $200 is a pretty big jump for me.
I was also considering Intel because of the extra cores, but I couldn’t find that particular model in stock. Is there another Intel option you’d recommend?
