How to Identify the Size of Used DDR3 RAM from a Photo?

I'm building a home server and I'm planning to upgrade my RAM from 2x4GB to 2x8GB based on my CPU specs. I'm looking at some used DDR3 RAM, but I'm not sure if there's a way to tell if a RAM stick is 4GB or 8GB just by looking at a photo. I have an example of what I'm considering, but the image isn't great quality. Can anyone give me tips on how to check this, or if the RAM's size is usually labeled? Also, is there any way to confirm if the RAM works without being physically present?

The size is usually printed on the label of the RAM stick. If your image is too blurry, try to find a clearer one. That can make a big difference! If you can't read it, you might have to rely on the seller’s description. Just remember that if it says 2x8, you should see "8GB" labeled somewhere on each stick.

Got it, thanks for the info! Is there any way to check if the RAM is functional without being there in person?

Checking functionality from a distance is tricky! You generally need to have it installed to test it properly. Some sellers might run benchmarks and show their results, but that’s the best you can do if you aren't physically there.

I can't see the image either, but yeah, typically there's a label that indicates the RAM's specs. If you're unsure, ask the seller for better pics or additional details. That can save you a hassle later on!
