I recently bought a PNY RTX 5070 OC Triple Fan and I'm concerned about its temperatures. In demanding games, the GPU usually reaches 79–82°C with a room temperature of around 20°C. In MSI Kombustor, at 100% usage and nearly 250W, the core reached 82–83°C, the hotspot was around 97–100°C, and memory temperature was about 72°C. I haven't had any crashes, artifacts, or other problems. NVIDIA lists 85°C as the maximum temperature for the RTX 5070, but these results still seem high for a triple-fan model, especially with such a cool room. My system has a Ryzen 5 9600X, Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE, 16GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a mesh Aigo/DarkFlash case, and an XPG Core Reactor 750W power supply. Should I adjust the case airflow or fan curve, try undervolting, or return the card while I still can?

A mild undervolt can make a noticeable difference without sacrificing much performance. Some users are running around 990 mV at high clock speeds while staying between roughly 40 and 65°C, depending on the workload and room temperature. If the card remains stable and the hotspot difference is reasonable, undervolting is a safer first step than returning it. However, if better airflow and a custom fan curve still leave it near 82°C in normal gaming, exchanging it could be reasonable since some models run much cooler.
Check how many fans your case has and how they’re positioned. A typical setup would be three front or bottom intakes, one rear exhaust, and one or two top exhaust fans. Good static-pressure case fans and a more aggressive GPU fan curve could help. Undervolting the 5070 is also worth trying because it can reduce both GPU temperature and the amount of heat dumped into the case.
Those temperatures are within the card’s limits, but they do seem high for a 20°C room. Case airflow may be the main issue, especially if the GPU isn’t getting a steady supply of cool air. Try running the same test with the side panel removed. If temperatures drop significantly, improve the intake and exhaust setup rather than replacing the card immediately.
Other RTX 5070 owners are seeing lower temperatures, although case design makes a big difference. One non-OC PNY model stayed around 74–76°C during long gaming sessions and stress testing in a well-ventilated case. That suggests your card may be cooling normally but is being limited by airflow, fan settings, or its factory power and voltage tuning.

I’ll test it with the side panel open first and compare the difference before changing the whole fan layout.
