I'm planning to build a PC soon and already have a general parts list put together. The total comes to about $3,000 USD including peripherals if I buy everything through Amazon. I like the convenience of keeping the whole build in one cart, but I'm wondering whether I could save money or avoid problems by buying from other retailers such as Newegg, Micro Center, or B&H. Is Amazon reliable for PC components, and are there any things I should watch out for?

Record yourself opening packages, especially for a graphics card, processor, power supply, or motherboard, and inspect everything for signs of tampering or prior use. Defective or swapped items can happen with any retailer, so make sure you have enough time for a replacement before planning your build.
