I'm considering upgrading to a newer CPU and motherboard, possibly with an AM5 bundle that includes a Ryzen 5 7600X3D, a B650 motherboard, and 16GB of DDR5 for around $450. Is the platform change worth it, or should I stick with DDR4? DDR5 pricing also seems ridiculous, with some 32GB kits costing over $400. I know the current case is designed for an ITX motherboard, so I may need to move to a larger case if the bundle includes a larger board.

Make sure you check what motherboard size comes with the bundle. Your current H1 setup uses an ITX board, while many bundled B650 boards are micro-ATX or full ATX. If you’re changing to a larger motherboard, you’ll need a compatible case and possibly a different cooling and power-supply layout.
A newer CPU can make a noticeable difference even before changing the graphics card. An 11th-generation i7 may improve frame rates over the 10400F, but it can also produce substantially more heat, so your current 140mm cooler may struggle. The AM5 bundle gives you a stronger upgrade path and better gaming performance, rather than just spending money to replace the RAM standard.
The important part isn’t DDR5 by itself—it’s the much faster processor and newer platform that happen to require DDR5. Moving from an i5-10400F to a Ryzen 5 7600X3D would be a major improvement for gaming, especially in CPU-limited titles. At around $450 for the CPU, motherboard, and memory, that bundle sounds like a worthwhile upgrade if you’re prepared to replace the case or motherboard as needed.
