I updated my Nvidia graphics driver to version 617.14 today, and since then my browser has become sluggish, the display takes a while to sync when the computer starts, and several installed games report corrupted files. Windows did not save the previous driver for rollback, and the Nvidia app does not show the version I had before. Should I reset the entire computer, change something in the BIOS, or is there a safer way to remove and reinstall the driver?

The exact graphics card model is important because Nvidia provides separate driver packages for different GPUs. Search Nvidia’s driver page using the model number, then use the older-release options to download a previous driver. After reinstalling, verify the game files through each game launcher if corruption warnings continue.
Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from Safe Mode to completely remove the current Nvidia driver, then reinstall the driver you choose from Nvidia’s website. A clean installation can resolve leftover or corrupted driver files. Follow a reputable guide for entering Safe Mode and using DDU carefully.
You probably do not need to reset Windows or change anything in the BIOS. Find your exact Nvidia GPU model, visit Nvidia’s official driver download page, and look through the older driver releases until you find a suitable version. It does not have to be the driver immediately before 617.14.
I’m not sure which version I was using before 617.14, so I’ll need to identify my GPU and choose an earlier stable release manually.
