I'm putting together a new gaming PC based on the AM4 platform, using a Ryzen 5 5600, and I'm trying to choose a graphics card for 1080p gaming. I've found an RTX 5060 Ti 8GB for around £370, but I'd prefer to spend roughly £300 or less if possible. I mainly play Rocket League, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Minecraft, and other relatively undemanding games, although I may play some single-player titles later. I'm not concerned about using maximum settings, and my overall build budget is ideally under £900, with some flexibility. Would an 8GB card such as the RX 9060 XT 8GB be suitable, or should I look for a different option?

For 1080p, 8GB of VRAM is still adequate for the games you listed. A 16GB model would give you more breathing room for newer single-player games and future releases, but it isn’t essential if you’re willing to avoid ultra settings. The RTX 5060 Ti 8GB and RX 9060 XT 8GB should both be fine; choose based on price, performance in the games you play, and power efficiency.
The RX 9060 XT 8GB seems like a reasonable choice around the £300 mark. It should handle your current games very comfortably at 1080p, especially since you’re happy to use medium or low settings. If you’re buying used, an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT could also offer strong performance, but check the card’s condition, power requirements, and warranty carefully.
I was considering the 9060 XT 8GB, but I kept seeing warnings about buying 8GB cards. Most of the games I play aren’t very demanding, though, so I’m not sure I’d actually need 16GB.
I’ve never really played anything at maximum settings, so I’d probably be fine lowering settings if a game starts using too much VRAM. I’m also sticking with AM4 to keep the build affordable rather than spending several hundred more on AM5.
