I'm returning to PC gaming after a long break and want to play WoW Forever for the nostalgia. I already own a PS5, which will remain my main platform for demanding AAA games, so this PC doesn't need to be a high-end powerhouse.
The main use will be WoW, including comfortable raid performance with addons, WeakAuras, Discord, and browser tabs running at the same time. I'll also play less demanding games such as Football Manager. I'm not concerned about ultra settings or extremely high frame rates, but I do want consistent performance in busy raids and cities, where the game can become CPU-heavy.
My target budget for the PC is around £950–£1,350, with another roughly £210 set aside for a 1440p monitor, mouse, and mousemat. I'm open to either a reputable UK pre-built system or buying the parts and having someone assemble it.
I've read that AMD X3D processors can offer a significant benefit in WoW. Would it make sense to prioritise an AM5 X3D CPU and use a sensible mid-range graphics card, rather than spending heavily on the GPU? Is this budget realistic, and what parts, retailers, or pre-built systems would you recommend or avoid?

This is achievable if you’re sensible with the component choices. A Ryzen 5 7600X3D-class CPU, 32GB of DDR5, a 1TB NVMe SSD, and a mid-range 8GB graphics card should be enough for WoW and your other games. Don’t overspend on an expensive motherboard, premium SSD, or oversized cooler—those savings are better used on the CPU and graphics card. Check UK part prices directly, since converting US component prices rarely gives an accurate estimate.
An X3D processor is attractive for WoW, but fitting one into this budget can force compromises elsewhere. You still need 32GB of RAM, a decent SSD, a reliable power supply, and a graphics card capable of handling 1440p comfortably. A mid-range Radeon card paired with an AM5 X3D chip can work, but you’ll need to shop carefully and compare UK prices rather than assuming a particular build will fit.
A more balanced AM5 system with a Ryzen 5 7500-class processor and a current mid-range GPU should also handle WoW well, especially if you’re not chasing maximum settings. Spend the difference on 32GB of memory and a good-quality power supply. A 650W unit is generally sufficient for this level of hardware, so a 750W model may be unnecessary unless you want extra upgrade headroom.
