I'm planning to move from Windows to Bazzite soon, mainly because I want a gaming-focused Linux setup. I've never used Linux before, and I'm starting fresh rather than transferring my existing files. Are there any important compatibility issues, preparation steps, or beginner tips I should know before installing it?

Back up anything important even if you’re planning a clean install, and prepare a Bazzite live USB so you can test your hardware before committing. It’s also useful to keep the installer USB around in case you need recovery tools later.
The biggest thing to check first is game compatibility. Most games that work through Steam and Proton are usually fine, but some multiplayer games with certain anti-cheat systems still don’t work on Linux. Check the specific games you care about before switching. I’m already aware of that limitation, but it’s still worth verifying your full library.
Bazzite can be a very good gaming-focused choice, and some people have had excellent results with it on gaming laptops. Just expect a short adjustment period while learning Linux, and test things like graphics drivers, Wi-Fi, audio, controllers, and sleep mode from the live environment if possible.
