My RTX 2080 Super recently died, and I'm looking for a replacement in the $600 range. I was happy with its performance and don't need extremely high frame rates—around 60 FPS is usually enough for me. I'm considering an RX 9060 XT, but I'm open to other suggestions, including used cards, as long as they offer a meaningful upgrade and should remain useful for a while.

If you can stretch the budget a little, the RX 9070 XT is another excellent option, but prices vary a lot and many are well above $600. The 9060 XT is still reasonable, especially the 16GB version, but I’d avoid the 8GB model for a new purchase if you want the card to last several years. Also make sure your power supply and case can handle whichever card you choose.
I’d look for an RX 9070 on sale. Some models can land close to $600, and buying new at that price is more appealing than paying similar money for a used card. It has 16GB of VRAM, good efficiency, and would be a substantial upgrade over the 2080 Super.
For used hardware, an RTX 4070 Super, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, or possibly an RX 7900 XT would be worth checking. The 4070 Super is a good option if you care about ray tracing and upscaling, while the AMD cards generally offer more VRAM and strong traditional rendering performance. Just compare local prices carefully—some used listings are priced too close to newer cards to be worthwhile.
The RX 9070 GRE looks like one of the strongest choices in this budget. It should be noticeably faster than the 9060 XT—roughly 20% in some comparisons—without costing much more. It also gives you plenty of VRAM for newer games.
Agreed. If you can find the 9070 GRE near its usual price, it’s probably the best balance here.

I found a 7900 GRE around $480 recently, and it was a big improvement over my older card. The 16GB of VRAM is also reassuring for future games.
