You don’t need to spend anywhere near €6,000 for excellent 1440p performance. A Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with a Radeon RX 9070 XT would make a very strong gaming-focused system and should handle 120 Hz in most games. AMD currently offers much better value, while Nvidia has the advantage in ray tracing. Moving to an RTX 5070 Ti would cost several hundred euros more, and an RTX 5080 would cost roughly €700 extra in this type of build without coming close to delivering twice the performance. A quality power supply can support the 5080 if you decide that ray tracing is worth the premium. Use the remaining budget for a fast SSD, strong cooling, additional storage, or more memory, although 32 GB is generally enough for gaming. Keep in mind that poorly optimized games can still perform badly regardless of hardware, at least until patches are released.
For a 1440p 120 Hz display, a sensible system could cost around €2,500 rather than €6,000. That would already be capable of exceeding 120 FPS in many games. Spending the difference on a higher-refresh OLED monitor could make a much more noticeable upgrade, such as a 1440p 280 Hz or 360 Hz OLED model. Alternatively, you could use the extra budget for a 4K high-refresh setup if you want a more meaningful improvement in image quality.
