I have a $400 gift card and want to improve my gaming setup. My current system has a Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 5070 Ti, 32 GB of RAM, and an LG 27GL83A-B monitor. I mostly play single-player games such as Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I'm considering replacing the CPU with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and using the remaining money on games, or putting the budget toward a 27-inch 1440p OLED monitor—or possibly subsidizing a 32-inch 4K OLED. Which upgrade would make the biggest difference? Monitor suggestions are welcome.

The 5800X3D can improve frame-time consistency and minimum FPS, especially in CPU-heavy games like Baldur’s Gate 3, but it isn’t a dramatic upgrade in every title. Since the 5800X is still capable, I’d prioritize the monitor unless you’re regularly seeing CPU limitations or your GPU isn’t reaching the performance you want.
I’d put the money toward a 27-inch 1440p OLED. The jump from your current IPS panel to OLED will be immediately noticeable, with much better contrast, motion clarity, and HDR. The 5070 Ti is a great match for 1440p OLED, while 4K will put more pressure on the GPU and often mean using upscaling or settling closer to 60 FPS.
A 4K OLED would be the more substantial display upgrade, but I’d only choose it if you’re comfortable using DLSS and adjusting settings. The 5070 Ti can handle 4K reasonably well, though demanding games won’t always stay near 100 FPS at ultra settings.
