My mouse has been feeling far more sensitive than it should for several years, and the sensation sometimes seems to get faster over time. The mouse is set to 800 DPI, but it feels closer to 2,000 DPI, making multiplayer games difficult to play. Pointer precision is disabled. I'm using a wireless Logitech G502 HERO on Windows 11 and have already tried several fixes without success. What could be causing this, and how can I get the sensitivity back to normal?

First, check the Logitech mouse software and confirm that the active profile is really set to 800 DPI. Make sure the profile is assigned to the games you’re playing and that no DPI-shift setting is being activated. Windows pointer speed and each game’s sensitivity can also multiply the result, so verify those separately.
If the sensitivity changes with the mouse software closed, test the mouse on another computer or with a different mouse on this PC. That will help separate a hardware or wireless problem from a Windows or game setting. Also check whether any CPU, voltage, or other overclocking settings are affecting input responsiveness, since unusual system tuning can sometimes make movement feel inconsistent.
The G502 has physical DPI buttons, so check that one isn’t being pressed accidentally or configured to switch profiles. You can temporarily remove the extra DPI levels in the Logitech software and leave only one setting, which makes it easier to confirm whether the mouse is changing sensitivity by itself.

I’ve checked the DPI button and I’m not accidentally pressing it. I’ll still try disabling the other DPI levels to rule out profile switching.
