My iPhone 14 Pro gets noticeably hot and loses battery quickly whenever I use YouTube, to the point where I can barely watch videos. I've tried offloading and reinstalling the app, deleting it completely and installing it again, turning off YouTube's ambient mode, and switching the display to 60 Hz, but nothing has helped. The phone's battery maximum capacity is currently 77%. What else could be causing this, and what should I do?

At 77% maximum capacity, the battery is significantly worn and is the most likely explanation for the rapid drain and extra heat. Streaming video already uses the display, processor, speakers, and network connection heavily, so an aging battery can make the problem much more noticeable. I’d have the battery replaced through Apple or a reputable repair provider first. Also check whether the phone heats up with other video apps; if it does, that points even more strongly to the battery or hardware rather than YouTube itself.
I’ve already reinstalled YouTube and changed a few settings, but I’ll check how the phone behaves with other video apps and look into replacing the battery.
