When I play online games on my PC, my ping has suddenly increased to over 200 ms. This only started a few days ago. My Xbox still gets the usual 30–50 ms ping, even though it connects over Wi‑Fi while my PC uses Ethernet. What could be causing the problem, and how can I troubleshoot it?

The game server and the connection route can affect ping, but since your Xbox is still normal, the issue may be specific to the PC, the game, or the Ethernet connection. Try restarting the PC and router, testing another Ethernet cable or router port, and checking whether the high ping happens in other games. Also make sure the PC isn’t downloading updates or syncing files in the background.
Compare both devices under similar conditions. If the Xbox is playing on a different server or game region, its ping may not be directly comparable. On the PC, check the game’s selected region, disable any VPN, and run a ping test to your router and to a general internet address. A normal router ping but high game ping usually points to the game server or PC software; high router ping suggests a local network or Ethernet issue.
