Accidentally Deleted Windows Files – What Should I Do?

I accidentally ran the command 'del /s /q *' on my PC while trying to fix an installation for an app I found online. I think I entered it wrong and ended up executing the command by itself. Now, my PC won't boot back into Windows, and I'm not sure what to do next. I realize this was a huge mistake, and I'm feeling really embarrassed about it. Can anyone suggest helpful steps or options for my situation?

That command deletes everything without confirming it. So, unfortunately, your files are likely gone. Your best bet now is to format your hard drive and reinstall Windows. It's a tough lesson, but you can get back on track if you follow those steps.

On the bright side, this is a hard lesson about the risks of commands you don't fully understand! In most cases, you don’t need the command line to fix apps on Windows. It’s typically better to manually navigate to the directories and handle files there instead of running commands blindly.
