I accidentally formatted my SD card and I'm hoping to recover my lost data without spending any money. Is there any way to do this?

If you did a quick format, you might be in luck! The data usually stays on the drive, just marked as 'available' until you write new files over it. Just make sure you haven’t added anything new to the card.
I remember trying a tool called Zar-X once. Can't say it worked wonders for formatted disks, but it's worth a try if you're looking for free options.
You could give Recuva a go with a deep scan. Just a heads up—if it asks you to format it again, definitely don't do that! You might still retrieve some of your data.
Check out majorgeeks for free data recovery tools. Just keep in mind that recovery depends on whether you did a quick or full format. Quick formats often leave data intact until it's overwritten.
You might want to check out TestDisk. I used it before to recover a partition on my microSD when it got corrupted. A format just replaces the partition table, so you might have a shot at recovering your files. Here's a link to their page: [TestDisk and PhotoRec](http://techradar.com/reviews/testdisk-and-photorec). Good luck!
