Adding More RAM to My CyberpowerPC: Why Is It Running So Slow?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some assistance with my new CyberpowerPC setup. I've got a Ryzen 9 9950X3D, an AMD Radeon 9070 XT, and a B850 Wi-Fi 6 motherboard, plus 64GB of TeamGroup DDR5 6400 memory (two sticks). I tried to add another 64GB of the same RAM, but I've been struggling for hours. I finally managed to get it to boot, but it says there's a hardware conflict. When I checked the BIOS, it's only running at 3600MHz instead of the expected 6400MHz. What do you think I might be doing wrong? I have screenshots but can't post them here.

DDR5 doesn’t tend to play nicely with four RAM sticks at high speeds. Typically, you can get two sticks running fast, but adding more means you have to settle for slower speeds like the 3600 MT/s you're seeing. You can try to manually tweak settings to go faster, but results aren’t guaranteed. Just be cautious if you decide to overclock them—better to stay safe than risk instability!

Got it, thanks for the heads up! I’ll do some benchmarks to see if the speed difference is noticeable.

It’s common for four RAM sticks to default to a lower clock speed. With AM5 CPUs, using non-EXPO DDR5 memory can definitely lead to issues. You might see 3600 MT/s because of how the system is handling multiple sticks. If they’re not EXPO rated, you could run into some performance hiccups while trying to max out speeds. Just remember, with four sticks, overclocking can be a bit tricky, and there's no guarantee it will work out well. Maybe check if you really need that 128GB of RAM? It could save you some hassle!
