Advice for Building a Budget Compact Gaming PC with Used Parts

I'm planning to build a compact gaming PC using a case I can 3D print (you can check it out here: https://www.printables.com/model/1443219-backpack-friendly-itx-pc-case-v20). It's been a while since I last assembled a PC, and since my budget is pretty tight, I'm looking to use mostly second-hand parts. I'm aiming for a setup that can comfortably run games like Borderlands 4 at medium settings in 1080p. Is it realistic to put together a decent build for around $500? Any advice on components I should consider would be great!

Getting a good performance PC for under $500 is going to be really tough, especially with an ITX build since those components often cost more. Plus, you’ll need a PCIe riser kit for your case, which adds to the cost. Honestly, I don’t think you'll be able to build something that can run Borderlands 4 well for that budget.

Thanks for the heads-up! I heard someone suggest $800 might be the starting point.
