Advice for Planning My First Gaming Desktop Build

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my gaming setup and want to build a desktop that will last me for at least five years. My main goals are to play any game at maximum settings without a hitch, and I also care a lot about how the build looks.

Currently, I have an OMEN laptop with an i9-12900H processor, RTX 3060 GPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a QHD 165Hz display.

For my ideal build, I'm considering a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU paired with an RX 9070 XT graphics card, 32GB to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, a 2TB SSD, a high-quality PSU and motherboard, and a 360mm AIO cooler with Lian Li fans. As for the case, I really like the Floatron F1 or the Antec Flux Pro.

I'm torn between buying a more affordable entry-level PC and upgrading it or selling my current setup to invest in the ideal build right away. Any advice on specifications or where to find good deals would be greatly appreciated!

Have you thought about your budget? The parts you've listed can range between $2,000 and $3,000. If you're in the U.S., check if there's a Micro Center nearby—they often have great bundles for CPUs, motherboards, and RAM. Here’s a rough price guide: [PCPartPicker link](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xxgkdq)! Also, you can find your case on Amazon, likely for a similar price.

Thanks for the info! I'm in the U.S., but the closest Micro Center is about five hours away. My budget is around $2,000 to $3,000. What do you think about buying used CPUs and GPUs? Is it better to get them new for warranty reasons?

That sounds like a solid build! It should definitely meet your gaming needs for years to come. Just ensure you're keeping an eye on compatibility between all your components, especially the motherboard with the CPU and RAM.
