Hey everyone! I'm new to building PCs and could really use your insights. I'm planning to put together a setup mainly for gaming, but I'll also use it for Word, Excel, some streaming, and general web surfing. I've done some research and created a parts list, but I'm open to suggestions and advice on what to adjust. Thanks in advance for your help!

If you’re considering cooling options, a 360mm or 240mm AIO cooler might be a better choice than an air cooler, especially if you're going for something like the Ryzen 9 9900x3d. That said, a good dual tower air cooler can perform just as well as a 240mm AIO, so it really depends on your preference for aesthetics and maintenance.

True! If you stick with the 9900x3d, definitely go for the 360mm for optimal cooling. But don’t overlook those air coolers; they can be very effective!

Are you based in the US? And do you have a Micro Center nearby? What’s your monitor like—what resolution and refresh rate are you aiming for? If you’re mostly gaming, the 9800x3d is a solid pick. The 9900x3d might be better for tasks that need extra cores, but for gaming and streaming, it may not be necessary.

Honestly, this build might be overkill for what you need. Unless you’re planning on heavy tasks like AI processing, you might want to stick with the 9800 x3d instead of the 9900. The 5080 GPU is also way overpriced right now; a 5070TI or a 9070XT could save you a bunch while still being great for your gaming needs. Also, consider upgrading your SSD configurations for better performance!

I’d suggest downgrading your CPU to a 9800x3d or even the newer 9850x3d. You’ll get better gaming performance that way, and for basic office tasks, they perform almost identically to the 9900x3d. Plus, you don’t really need the Pro version of Windows unless you’re working in a corporate setting.
