Hey everyone, I'm contemplating a move of our infrastructure from Azure to OVH's bare metal cloud and could use some guidance. We're a small company of about 10-20 employees, with me handling all the IT tasks. Our main work revolves around MS SQL databases, and the team operates remotely without any on-prem infrastructure. Right now, everything runs on Azure, but it's becoming increasingly expensive, and I'm looking to cut costs without sacrificing performance. I'd like some insights on setting up a secure VPN and the overall network infrastructure for OVH.
Here's a better look at our current setup: we have a single Linux VM hosting our MS SQL Server, sitting behind an Azure VPN Gateway. Our monthly Azure bill is running at about £2,000, but I estimate OVH could bring it down to around £1,000.
I'm leaning toward OVH's options for higher specs and consistent pricing, but I want to ensure secure and private connections without having to manage everything myself. Any advice on this transition or the best configurations for networking and backup solutions would be highly appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Switching from Azure to OVH can definitely save you money, but remember that the reliability and service you get from Azure has its price. Keep in mind that you might have to do more hands-on management with OVH regarding networking and backups, which could end up being time-consuming. If you're just switching one Linux VM, it might not be worth the hassle unless you’re experiencing major bottlenecks. Think of this as a business decision—you might find balancing cost and convenience is your best bet!
You're right; I have been keeping an eye on the hands-on work for OVH, and anything to streamline that process would help. Thanks for the heads up!
