Hey everyone! I'm putting together my first PC and would love to get your thoughts on the parts I've selected. I'm currently sticking with the AM4 platform instead of moving to AM5. Here are the components I'm considering:
- AsRock B550M Phantom Gaming 4 – B550 chipset, AM4 socket, mATX form factor, DDR4 memory
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT – 6 cores and 12 threads, with a base clock of 3.7GHz and turbo up to 4.7GHz
- Geil Orion DDR4 – 16GB (2x8GB) with a speed of 3200MHz
- ASRock Radeon RX 6600 Challenger D – 8GB GDDR6 with FSR and Ray Tracing support
- Kingston NV3 – 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD with read/write speeds of 6000/4000 MB/s
I'm a bit torn on whether to stick with the Ryzen 5 5600XT or upgrade to the Ryzen 5 5500x3D. What do you all think?

Just a heads up, AM4 is pretty much at its end, so upgrading might be tricky down the line. Also, the Kingston NV3 SSD might not be the best choice as it often uses QLC flash, which can be less durable and slower over time. Consider a TLC flash drive like the Kioxia Exceria Plus G3 instead!
Definitely go for the Ryzen 5 5500x3D if you're focusing on gaming; it's optimized for that and will give you a better performance in most titles.
Are you confident that these parts will let you enjoy some decent gaming?
