Advice Needed for Switching from AIO to Air Cooler on Pre-Built PC

I've been using a pre-built PC for a few years and I'm not very knowledgeable about building one myself. Currently, it has an AIO cooler, but I think it's malfunctioning since it makes strange noises and my CPU temp is sitting at 99°C when idle. I'm considering switching to a traditional air cooler because I've heard they're generally more reliable. Are air coolers easy to install? What issues might I face when switching from an AIO? Also, if anyone has advice on how to troubleshoot my AIO or fix the temperature problems, I'm happy to provide more details.

It's definitely concerning that your CPU is idling at 99°C. To switch from an AIO to an air cooler, you’ll just reverse the AIO installation process. In pre-builts, mounting can be tricky since they might use different configurations. Just make sure that the air cooler you buy is compatible with your CPU socket before purchasing. It should be labeled on the box or website.

The AIO is mounted at the top of my case, so I think that should help with the installation. Do you know how I can check which socket I have?

Yeah, it sounds like your AIO is definitely not working right with those temps. What CPU do you have? Knowing that can help figure out what air cooler would work best for you.

I’ve got an Intel i7 12700KF. I’m hoping that replacing the cooler will solve the temp issues.
