I'm having some trouble with my AWS Simple Email Service access. I've been denied entry to the production environment and I'm not sure what went wrong. I run a private membership community where all members create verified accounts through our website. The emails we send out are either transaction-based, such as account notifications and password resets, or community updates sent only to members who opted in through their account settings. We don't send marketing materials or unsolicited bulk emails. Every message has a clear unsubscribe option, and we carefully monitor our list to manage bounces and complaints. Can anyone help me figure out why my access was denied?

Sorry to hear about your SES struggles! Check out this article I found; it gives solid advice for getting access to SES production: https://go.aws/4qF09tn. If you still need help afterwards, definitely reach out through your Support ticket with a comprehensive use case to clarify your needs.
It sounds like you might be misclassifying some of your emails. If AWS denied your request for transactional access, it could be because they considered your community updates as marketing emails. This can be a major red flag. Also, if you're using a personal account instead of a business one, that might not help your case either. Make sure you have a solid privacy policy and terms of service, and be prepared to show how your unsubscribe process works too.
Congrats on considering alternatives like Postmark! It might be a better fit if you're facing consistent troubles with SES.
