I'm looking to build a budget-friendly gaming PC for my son since his laptop recently died. He wants to use his own savings for this, but I want to ensure the build has room for future upgrades as well. We're okay with not having ultra settings for gaming. Here's the current setup I have in mind, but I'd love some feedback on it! The prices reflect our location in Europe, which can be pretty steep.

Which country are you in? PCPartPicker allows you to set your location for better pricing info in Europe. Also, looking at getting Windows cheaper is a good idea. You really don't need PCIe 5.0 for the SSD; PCIe 4.0 is enough for gaming and usually costs the same as PCIe 3.0 but with better performance. You might also want to think about getting more than 1TB of storage down the line. For now, you could save a little by opting for a less expensive power supply as well.
Have you considered getting the 5060 Ti with 16GB instead of the 8GB version? It’s definitely worth the extra investment for the performance boost.
If you’re feeling unsure about building a PC, maybe check out some prebuilt options. I found a nice prebuilt system from AWD-IT on sale for half price. It won’t run everything on ultra, but it would manage high settings and give you upgrade options later on. Just do some research on reputable sellers in your area; that’ll save time and hassle in the long run. Good luck with your build!

I agree with your points! The pricing seems off for the GPU, but check local markets. And regarding the SSD, it’s a good call to go with PCIe 4.0 for gaming.
