Advice on Dual Booting Linux with Windows

I'm a complete newbie to Linux and have only ever used Windows up until now. I'm considering switching due to constant updates and bloatware. After doing some research, I've decided that dual booting would be the best course of action. I mainly use my PC for gaming, but I also rely on Microsoft applications like Word, OneNote, and Teams for school work. I'm aware that not all games run on Linux or might need third-party software. I've heard good things about Pop!_OS Nvidia Edition for my setup, which includes a NVIDIA GPU and an Intel CPU, and I have two 1TB SSDs. I'm looking for guides on how to dual boot safely and any tips or advice from those who have experience with this process. I want to gather as much information as possible so I don't go into this blindly. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Are you planning to use your second SSD for Linux? If it's not empty, just make sure you choose the right drive during installation. If you're worried, you can unplug your Windows drive temporarily. I've heard some mixed reviews about the Cosmic desktop, so maybe do a bit more research before making your choice.

Pop!_OS sounds good, but be aware that the Cosmic version is currently in Alpha, so it might have bugs. Other options you could consider are Bazzite with Nvidia support, or CachyOS. Also, check out alternatives like LibreOffice, though I'm not sure if Zoom works well on Linux, Google Meet does fine! It ultimately comes down to how comfortable you are exploring alternatives to Windows programs.

You might want to check out the migration page on Linux for noobs, it offers some helpful guides. Just a tip: be cautious with root access and avoid using third-party repositories unless absolutely necessary. Always verify the checksums of your downloaded ISOs for safety!
