Advice on Replacing a Failed SSD

Hi everyone! My secondary SSD, a 1TB PCS 2.5" model, just failed. Thankfully, it wasn't my main drive, but it's still a hassle. I'm in need of two things: first, a solid recommendation for a 1TB replacement SSD since I work in animation and gaming, so performance and reliability are key. Secondly, I'd like to add another SSD for live backups in case either of my drives fail again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to consider getting an NVMe M.2 SSD if your motherboard supports it. They look like small RAM sticks rather than the traditional 2.5" SSDs. If you can't use an M.2 SSD, your options will be limited to SATA SSDs. Do you know what motherboard you have?

My C drive is already an NVMe! I can check the motherboard model when I get back to my machine.

The baseboard is ASUSTeK PRIME B550-PLUS.

If your motherboard supports it, go for an M.2 SSD. You don't necessarily need an NVMe one unless you're constantly transferring huge files, but they often cost about the same as SATA models now. If you have to stick to a SATA SSD, just pick one from a reputable brand like SanDisk or Crucial. Thanks! I’ll take a look! I do move large files more often than average, but probably not enough to justify M.2.
