Advice on Upgrading My PC After Four Years

Hi everyone! I'm considering upgrading my PC for the first time in about four or five years since my brother built it for me. I'm not sure what components I should tackle first or what I should upgrade them to, so any advice would be super helpful! I usually play games like League of Legends, Elden Ring, and Baldur's Gate, and I also use my PC for programming and development work. I'm flexible with my budget since I'm planning to upgrade gradually over time. Here are my current specifications:

- Motherboard: MSI X570-A Pro
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
- Memory: 16 GB DDR4
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700
- Storage: Intel 660p 1TB SSD

If I were in your shoes, I'd consider starting fresh, keeping the RAM, storage, and case if it’s still in good shape. You could pick up an AM5 CPU and motherboard bundle, making sure to also get a new PSU based on your future GPU and CPU requirements.

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you have specific recommendations for the AM5 upgrade?

Wait, don’t AM5 CPUs need DDR5 RAM?

Keep your MSI X570-A Pro as your foundation. Make sure to update to the latest BIOS. Consider swapping in a Ryzen 5600X or 5700X. If you're using a 1080p monitor, I recommend upgrading to the RX 6700 XT 12GB, although it’s good to check your PSU capacity first.

Honestly, unless you want to stick with AM4 and upgrade to something like the 5800X3D, your GPU would be the primary performance upgrade. But switching to AM5 would mean you'd need a new CPU, RAM, and motherboard all together.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot—AM5 requires DDR5 as well.
