Is My SSD Failing?

Hey everyone! I'm really worried because I've started getting a concerning error on my laptop. I've got an ADATA SwordFish 2TB PCIe 3.0 x4 that I've been using for about 6 years now. On November 18th, I began receiving the Event ID 7 code indicating bad blocks, and it's becoming more frequent—969 instances just this week! I've also noticed that right before the disk errors begin, I see another error related to Windows Update that says it failed to start. I ran a few tests using CrystalDiskInfo and HDTunerPro. CrystalDiskInfo shows a health status of 96% but lists 341 media and data integrity errors, along with 124 error log entries. HDTuner Pro found only 2 red sectors, and the ADATA SSD Toolbox says my SSD is healthy. I'm puzzled because even with all these errors, the programs suggest my SSD is in good condition. I'm really hoping to get some advice on whether my SSD is actually failing or if there's something else going on. If it is, I might need to look into getting a new laptop soon!

It sounds like you may be facing some serious issues with that SSD. I’d recommend using GSmartControl to run an extended self-test on it. It might take a bit of time, but you can use your computer while it's running, just know it may slow down the testing process. Keep in mind that raw SMART values aren't always helpful, so focus on the overall health assessment instead.

Just because CrystalDiskInfo shows a 'good' health status doesn't mean everything is fine. In fact, bad blocks can signal serious problems, especially since SSDs usually replace these automatically. After 6 years, it's wise to back up your important files ASAP and start looking for a replacement drive. Go for a reputable brand this time!
