I'm relatively new to building PCs but I'm excited to get one set up in my room! I plan to use it primarily for programming and coding, but I also want to enjoy gaming on it, especially since I currently play on console (PS5). Here's what I have in mind for my build so far, though I'm open to suggestions:

**CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor - $476.99

**CPU Cooler:** Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler - $139.94

**Motherboard:** Asus PRIME B650-PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard - $239.99

**Memory:** Kingston FURY Beast 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory - $321.50

**Storage:** Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive - $174.99

**Video Card:** Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card - $878.88

**Case:** Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower Case - $76.98

**Power Supply:** MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply - $119.45

**Operating System:** Microsoft Windows 11 Home Retail - USB 64-bit - $137.25

**Monitor:** MSI MAG 275QF 27.0" 2560 x 1440 180 Hz Monitor - $173.99

**Total Cost:** $2759.96 (before mail-in rebates)

Am I on the right track with this setup for my intended use, and are there any components I should reconsider?

You’re generally headed in the right direction, but I think there's room to optimize your choices. For the same budget, you could snag a 5080 along with a solid OLED monitor. Also, consider if you really need that DRAM SSD; a PCIe 4.0 drive should be just fine and could save you some cash! I even found a list with some solid price-to-performance options that includes a slick 1440p 240Hz OLED that's actually cheaper than your original setup! Check it out: [Link to PCPartPicker List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tmrjmC)

Thanks for the insight! I’ll look into the 4.0 drive. Why do you think I can skip the DRAM SSD?”

Great list! If I game at 4K, should I still go for the 9800X3D, or would the 7800X3D be better?

Whoa, $878 for the RTX 4070? Sounds pretty steep! What area are you in? Prices can vary a lot depending on where you live. You might want to look into getting a 5070 Ti instead, and then you can save up for the 5080 later.

Yeah, definitely check around! Prices shift all the time.
