Am I Getting Scammed with This Graphics Card?

I recently bought a 1660 Super and tried to clean it up as best as I could. However, I noticed that the thermal paste was really old and crusty. After putting everything back together, I tested it on my PC. I used DDU to uninstall the drivers from my old GPU and then installed the new drivers. But when I launched Rainbow Six Siege, I was only getting 30fps, and my frame time was spiking to around 50ms. Is this a sign that something's wrong?

When you take a GPU apart and see old thermal paste, you should always replace it. If it was just dusty but you didn’t take it apart entirely, you might be fine. But if you messed with it, some fresh paste should help.

Got it! I was just wondering if that's what’s causing my low FPS.

If that thermal paste is crusty, you might want to reapply some fresh stuff. You can get it for pretty cheap, like $1-5. Old thermal paste can definitely cause overheating issues, leading to lower performance and those high frame times.
