Am I in Danger After Joining a Discord Server?

Hey everyone, I'm feeling really anxious right now because I think I might have been hacked. Here's what happened: I got invited to a Discord server by someone after I asked if he was a person I used to know. When I joined, my Discord on mobile crashed completely. I tried restarting the app several times, but nothing worked. Even on the browser version, my keyboard kept randomly popping up and the loading line wouldn't go away. The guy deleted the invite link after I asked him what was going on, and I got really freaked out.

He showed me messages I sent in public servers, even though we didn't share mutual servers, which made me feel like he had some sort of access to my information. He even said, "I got everything on you," which had me panicking that my phone was tapped or that he could access my Discord and device freely.

Now I want to know, is it possible for someone to tap into my phone just from being in a server? Also, is hard resetting my phone enough to secure it, or do I need to reinstall iOS using another device? Any advice from anyone knowledgeable would really help, thanks!

Yeah, it sounds like you're dealing with a Discord exploit. There are ways to crash people on Discord, especially if a server is overloaded with bots or messages. But don't panic; it’s highly unlikely that he can access your files or personal information just from that situation. Just keep your accounts secure and change your passwords!

Thanks for responding! That eases my mind a bit. But what should I do about my device? Would a factory reset be enough?

Honestly, it sounds pretty exploitative. It seems like he might have made the server problematic so it wouldn’t let you leave, which is not uncommon. But again, he can’t tap into your files or anything from just that. If you’re that worried, definitely consider doing a factory reset to be safe!

Thanks for the reassurance! I’m just being cautious since he’s not just some random person.
