We've encountered around 4 or 5 servers that crashed with a Critical Process Died BSOD following the installation of the October patches for Server 2016. I'm curious if anyone else has faced similar issues. It's odd since we've never had such problems before. I'm just starting my troubleshooting process, but I wanted to check if there's a known cause or solution before diving deeper.

5000 servers and no problems on our end since applying the October cumulative update, all running smoothly on VMware. Maybe it varies by setup?
I had similar issues too! We lost several VMs on one of our servers, especially with Entra Connect and a few other applications crashing.
Yeah, one of my servers went down and I had to restore from a backup from August to get things running again. Only one of several 2016 VMs was affected, but I linked the issue to the latest VMware Tools not being compatible with the October patch. Still, haven’t found anything conclusive about it yet.
I’ve tried with two servers, and they couldn’t install the October 23 update which replaced the original patch. Could be a blessing in disguise not to patch right now!
